The protest at the Massachusetts State House took place in April and was repeated again in September, with advocates for medical marijuana protesting the delay in getting dispensaries up and running.
Executive Director Matthew Allen of the Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance and Peter Hayashi, a former neuropsychologist who treats his pain disorder with marijuana obtained on the black market, join Jim Braude to discuss the holdup.
"I'm afraid it's because there have been politics before patients," said Allen.
"I have intractable nerve pain. I have the type of pain where the right side of my body is very sensitive to light touch and temperature changes," said Hayashi. "It became so apparent that it was so helpful to me that it really didn't make sense at all [not to use marijuana]."
