Collins, King Call for Sessions to Recuse Himself From Investigation

Sen. Susan Collins and Angus King of Maine are calling on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to clarify his communications with the Russian ambassador and to recuse himself from the investigation into whether Russia meddled in the U.S. election.

King went even further, saying Sessions should return to the Senate Judicial Committee to explain his inconsistent statements.

Rep. Chellie Pingree, meanwhile, joined fellow Democrats who are calling for Sessions to resign following the revelation he talked twice with Russia's ambassador during the presidential campaign. The conversations seem to contradict sworn statements Sessions gave to Congress during his confirmation hearings.

King described the latest revelations as "serious and troubling accusations." King voted against Sessions; Collins voted for him.
