The 127th Boston Marathon took place on Monday, featuring a field of 30,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.

The historic race was held place on Patriots Day, just two days after the emotional 10-year anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

The wheelchair divisions kicked off shortly after 9 a.m., followed about a half hour later by the elite fields.

Defending champion Evans Chebet of Kenya won the men's elite division. He is the first man to defend his title at Boston since 2008, and his winning time of 2:05:54 is the third-fastest winning time in race history.

Hellen Obiri of Kenya won the women's division with an unofficial time of 2:21:38, followed by Amane Beriso of Ethiopia. Obiri's time was the fourth-fastest winning time in history.

In the men's wheelchair division, five-time Boston Marathon champion Marcel Hug of Switzerland made it six on Monday. He won Boston the last time he competed in 2021, but had to withdraw due to injury in 2022.

American Susannah Scaroni won the women's wheelchair division with an unofficial time of 1:41:45. It's her first Boston Marathon win. Her victory followed runner-up finishes in 2018 and 2022.
