Shane Victorino: Fenway Is the Cathedral of Baseball

(NECN) – Shane Victorino and Dustin Pedroia spoke ahead of World Series Game 6.

When asked about passionate Boston Red Sox fans, Victorino said Fenway Park is a special place to play baseball.

“People call this the cathedral of baseball and I absolutely 100-percent agree.”

Victorino said they all understand the magnitude of Wednesday night’s game, the fact that the Red Sox haven’t won the World Series at home since 1918.

“Playing in front of these fans every single night, it doesn’t get any better.”

Pedroia was asked about his observations heading to the park.

“I have a pretty simple life, man. I walked to the field…you kind of have blinders on right now. We have a busy schedule and you want to spend time with your family so you just gotta try to put all that stuff aside and focus on what we’re trying to do,” he said.

They also spoke about the Cardinals’ starting pitcher, Michael Wacha.

“We know the task is not easy. We know we’re up against a tough pitcher, a tough challenge.”
