NHL rumors: Devils trade Marcus Johansson to Bruins for draft picks

The Boston Bruins made a deal for a veteran winger ahead of Monday's 3 p.m. ET NHL trade deadline, but it wasn't for Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds or Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone.

Boston instead swung a trade for New Jersey Devils left winger Marcus Johansson, per multiple reports.

Johansson, who can play both wing positions and center, has tallied 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists) in 48 games for the Devils this season. The 28-year-old forward also has 70 career games of Stanley Cup playoff experience. He is eligible to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, so it appears this move is a rental for Boston.

The Bruins also made a trade last week to acquire Minnesota Wild center Charlie Coyle in exchange for 22-year-old forward Ryan Donato and a fifth-round draft pick. These trades aren't likely to give the Bruins enough firepower to beat the first-place Tampa Bay Lightning in a playoff series, but time will tell.
