New England Patriots player Duron Harmon is back in the U.S. after he was reportedly detained after attempting to enter Costa Rica with more than 50 grams of marijuana.

The Costa Rica Star reports the 27-year-old safety was temporarily detained Friday night after trying to enter the country with 58 grams of marijuana inside a can of Arizona ice tea, along with three pipes with cannabis oil, edibles and four glass containers with compressed marijuana weighing a total of 4.3 grams.

In a statement, a New England Patriots spokesperson said they were aware of the situation involving Harmon.

"He has since returned to the U.S. and we are seeking to gain more information," the spokesperson said.

No other details were immediately available.

Harmon signed a four-year contract extension with the Patriots last year. He faces potential NFL disciplinary action, according to NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.
