The New England Patriots have confirmed that the team's star tight end Rob Gronkowski won't play in this Sunday's game against Tennessee.

Reports had been circulating that Gronkowski won't hit the field as he heals up his back and ankle.

Sunday's game against the Titans will be the third game he's missed so far this season due to injuries. He had been listed as questionable earlier this week.

"It's been more challenging, but it's just a little more obstacles in the way. I mean, it's life. You gotta take 'em on. That's what I'm doing," Gronkowski said Friday, NBC Sports Boston reported.

Gronk previously missed last Sunday's game against the Packers and Week 7's game against the Bears.

The Patriots face the Titans in Nashville at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
