A game-worn Tom Brady jersey was stolen from a display at the Patriots Hall of Fame in Foxboro Thursday, police said, but officers quickly recovered the contraband.

Team security at Patriots Place called in Foxboro police to help find the person who stole the No. 12 jersey and other memorabilia, according to a statement on the department's Facebook page.

An officer found the thief around the plaza parking lot and discovered that the man was wearing the stolen jersey under his jacket, police said.

The alleged thief is a 33-year-old Providence resident, but police didn't name him.

He was taken to Wrentham District Court on a larceny charge, police said.
