Roger Goodell Booed at Gillette Stadium Before Patriots Season Opener

Patriots fans have long criticized NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for seemingly avoiding coming to Foxboro after the Deflategate fiasco.

Thursday, as the Pats prepared to kick off the year against the Chiefs, Goodell made his first appearance at a game that counts. And a riled-up fanbase voiced its displeasure loudly.

As Goodell walked onto the field, the stadium erupted with boos. And fans on social media were just as welcoming.

The commish has been Public Enemy No. 1 in Patriots Nation since he accused Tom Brady of being "at least generally unaware" that footballs used in the AFC Championship of the 2014 season were underinflated.

Brady was ultimately suspended for the first four games of last season, before the Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl.

Goodell did not visit Foxboro during last year's playoffs, but did make an appearance this preseason.
