Don Orsillo Will Not Return to Red Sox Telecasts

A source tells necn's sister station Comcast SportsNet New England that Don Orsillo, the play-by-play voice on Red Sox telecasts, will not return next season.

Orsillo has been with the Boston Red Sox since 2001.

His contract expires at the end of the season and he will not be offered a new one by NESN.

He is expected to be replaced by Dave O'Brien, who is currently part of the Red Sox radio broadcast team on WEEI.

It was a quiet night at the Cask 'n Flagon Tuesday, with the home team playing the Chicago White Sox in Chicago, but fans say they love watching Jerry Remy and Orsillo interact, especially when the games got boring, whether it be laughing, or stories from home.

"He's funny. I like his cooking the best," said one fan.

"Him and Jerry have the best chemistry. How could he be gone? Who going to replace Don," said another.
