It's Time to Vote: Here are the 2021 MLB All-Star Voting Rules

Fans can weigh in on who will be the game starters

2021 MLB All-Star Voting Rules originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is still more than a month away, but it’s time for fans to start weighing in on who will be the starters on July 13 in Denver. Voting opens on Thursday, June 3 at 11:59 a.m. ET.

The first phase of voting extends until 3:59 p.m. ET on June 24. After that, the highest vote-getters will advance to the second round, taking place between June 28 and July 1, to determine the eight position players who will start for each league, plus the designated hitter for the American League.

Here’s how it all works:

When and where is the 2021 MLB All-Star Game?

The 91st annual All-Star Game takes place on July 13, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. ET in Denver. Atlanta was originally scheduled to host the game, but MLB moved it in April after Georgia passed a restrictive new voting law.

There will be a lot of other events in Denver that week. The first round of the 2021 MLB Draft will be held on Sunday, July 11, beginning at 7 p.m. ET, while the Home-Run Derby will be on Monday, July 12, at 8 p.m. ET.

How can I vote for the 2021 MLB All-Stars?

Fans can vote for the All-Stars on mlb.com. In the first round of voting, you can submit five votes per email address over a 24-hour period.

On each first-round ballot, you can select players for both the AL and NL: one player for each infield position and three outfielders, as well as a DH for the AL. Each team submitted its nominees at each position, but you can also write in your favorite player who doesn’t appear.

In the second round of voting, you can only vote once per email address over a 24-hour period on mlb.com. Voting will also be available on Google.

Who will start in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game?

The players who earn the right to start in the All-Star game have to make it past the first round. For each league, only the top three players at each infield position or DH, and the top nine outfielders, will be on the ballot for the second round.

The winners will be the player in each league with the most votes at first base, second base, shortstop, third base and DH for the AL. For outfielders, the three players in each league with the most votes will get to start.
