Mets Owner Steve Cohen Blasts Team on Twitter After Giants Loss

Steve Cohen broke No. 1: Never tweet.

The New York Mets owner couldn't help himself Wednesday morning following the team's 3-2 loss to Logan Webb and the Giants. Cohen blasted the Mets' offense as they lost their fifth straight game.

While the Mets had eight hits Tuesday night, they also walked only once, struck out 10 times and left 11 runners on base. Webb continued his dominant stretch, striking out eight and allowing only two earned runs -- on a Pete Alonso homer -- over 7 1/3 innings.

The Mets now rank 26th in slugging percentage (.380) and 24th in OPS (.693). They also rank 24th in team batting average (.235) and 28th in runs scored (450). This doesn't make a billionaire owner too happy from afar.

To be fair, the Mets have the hardest schedule in baseball right now. Starting Aug. 13, they began a 13-game stretch against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Giants, with only one day of rest in between.

But the Mets were expected to be true contenders this season, especially after trading for shortstop Francisco Lindor. Entering Wednesday's game against the Giants, they have dropped to 59-60 on the year and are 4.5 games back in the NL East.

The schedule doesn't get easier for the Mets, and the frustrations could only increase for Cohen. Remember, never tweet.
