Despite a late rally, the Patriots have suffered their second consecutive loss after a 10-0 start.
Just seven days after falling to the Denver Broncos, New England's record is 10-2 after the 35-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Pats were down by three touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, but Brady hammered the ball down the field, coming within seven points of tying with three minutes left on the clock. After an unsuccessful onside kick, New England managed to recover, but could not score a third time.
Those late drives, unfortunately, came on the heels of some atrocious football. When all was said and done, Brady had thrown for 312 yards on 29-56 passing, but threw two interceptions, including a 100-yard pick-6 to Malcolm Jenkins. He was sacked four times, a testament to New England's battered offensive line, and had thrown just one touchdown pass before the late-game comeback attempt.
Interestingly enough, Brady also had a 36-yard catch in the game on a pass from wide receiver Danny Amendola, who had just returned from a knee injury. Amendola made seven catches for 62 yards, leading Pats receivers in both stats.
On the ground, LeGarrette Blount ran for 54 yards on 13 carries. The Patriots combined for 103 rushing yards.
Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, meanwhile, went 14-24 for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Combined with 128 rushing yards, it is surprising that the Eagles were able to manage as many points as they did.
New England Patriots
The pick-6 did the Patriots in. It essentially represents a 14-point swing, as New England would have scored instead on a clean pass.
After some rough games, the Patriots will look to return to their winning ways next Sunday night against the Houston Texans.
