Police say the murder victim was dead for days

A Phoenix women killed another woman for not believing in God and then kept the woman's dead body on her couch for three days as a shrine from God, police said.

Police were called to the apartment of 39-year-old Anitra Braxton on Saturday after getting reports of a body there. Braxton said she was alone, but police found a woman on a couch covered by a towel.

Braxton told police the woman had been shot in the eye for not believing in God, and she kept the dead woman on the couch because she was a shrine from God. The woman, who has not been identified by authorities, had been dead for three days.

Police say the victim may have been pregnant. They arrested Braxton and charged her with first-degree murder.

Police say Braxton's relatives told them she suffers from mental health issues.

Braxton is being held on a $750,000 bond.
