Forget Broomsticks – These Florida Witches Prefer Paddleboards

Forget broomsticks.

Witches in the Sunshine State have a much more “Florida” way to move around.

Donning pointed hats and black dresses, a coven of costumed witches and warlocks jumped on paddleboards Sunday evening, as they celebrated the October full moon in the Keys. The Full Moon Witches’ Paddle took place off Marathon, according to a press release.

The group of nearly two dozen paddlers began their expedition at the Crane Point Museum and Nature Center, then set off along the shoreline.

The idea was conjured by Karen Thurman, a Florida Keys resident who suggested the idea on Facebook.

The paddlers took photos at several spots in the Keys, including the Banana Bay Resort & Marina and Keys Fisheries.

Videos and photos captured the moment, which seemed to be a bewitching experience for all involved.
