Police: Clerk Threw Chili Powder in Attempted Robbers' Faces

Twenty-five-year-old Brett Osgood of Revere, Massachusetts, was arrested for an attempted robbery of a convenience store in Stoneham.

A Massachusetts man has been arrested for an attempted armed robbery after police say a clerk threw chili powder in his face.

Twenty-five-year-old Brett Osgood of Revere was arrested for the incident at C-Store, a convenience store in Stoneham.

Police say Osgood and one other suspect displayed a gun and demanded cash. The clerk refused and was hit by one of the men.

According to police, Osgood tried to open a lottery ticket dispenser and the cash drawer, but could not open either. When the other suspect left the clerk to help open the register, police say, the clerk threw chili powder in their faces.

The clerk gave police a description of Osgood's license plate and police arrested him at his Revere home.

Osgood is charged with attempted armed robbery, destruction of property, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation.

Police are looking for the other suspect.
