Joy Lim Nakrin is an Emmy-nominated anchor/reporter and also a licensed attorney with memberships in both the Massachusetts Bar and American Bar Association.
Joy comes to NBC 10 Boston and necn from FOX25 in Boston where she spent two years as an anchor/reporter covering major local stories which garnered national attention such as trials for the Saint Paul's School rape and the Boston Marathon bombings.
She holds a Juris Doctorate from Duke University School of Law and briefly worked at law firms in both the U.S. and Japan, frequently drawing on that legal knowledge when covering crimes and justice. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She spent her junior year on a visiting scholarship at Harvard University. Her legal credits include several international law courses at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan.
Prior to coming home to serve as a journalist in Boston, Joy spent three years as an anchor/reporter in Minneapolis at ABC affiliate KSTP-TV. Before that, she spent two years as an anchor, reporter and producer at WTIC-TV in Hartford, Connecticut.
Joy's tenure in American local news follows a three-year stint in Asian television, during which time she served as an anchor/reporter for ESPN Asia, hosted shows for MTV Asia and starred in a Malaysian reality television series. Her anchoring for ESPN Asia was broadcast live to more than 24 countries from the network's headquarters in Singapore.
She also volunteers in the local community, serving as a committee member for the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center and helping the local MSPCA.
A proud rescue dog mom, she has an adopted Rottweiler, Mortimer, and dachshund, Oliver. Having grown up on a horse farm in rural North Carolina, she loves animals and the outdoors. But since her family settled in Boston in 1998, Boston has been and is home.
