Olessa Stepanova

Traffic Reporter

Olessa Stepanova joined NBC10 Boston and NECN in August 2019 as a traffic reporter.

She began her broadcasting career reporting traffic for News12 Traffic and Weather, covering Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Long Island and the Hudson Valley. From there, she went on to News12 Long Island, where she covered traffic in studio and from Chopper12. She also worked for NY1, reporting traffic for the Tri-State Area.

Olessa spent three years at WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, as the morning traffic reporter for Eyewitness News this Morning and the better buddy, reporting for a lifestyle show called Better Connecticut. She was also a fill in anchor and fill in co-host for Better Connecticut.

Most recently, she was the traffic anchor for the EyeOpener at WCVB for over five years.

Olessa has a degree in broadcast journalism from Long Island University, C.W. Post.

She is originally from Russia and moved to Queens, New York, with her family in 1992. She speaks fluent Russian, so several accents occasionally come through, including Russian, Long Island, and soon... Boston.

Olessa lives with her husband and almost 2-year-old son on the North Shore. They are adding two more to their family (one boy and one girl) in just a few months, so life is about to get pretty hectic.
