A federal judge has dismissed a class-action lawsuit brought by three students who attended a Massachusetts college that abruptly closed. The lawsuit was filed in November against Mount Ida College and former administrators and trustees. The students alleged that college officials deliberately misled them about the severity of the school’s financial problems before it closed in May 2018.

Students and faculty of Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, are reacting to this week’s announcement that the school will close later this year. The private 185-year-old college, known for programs in environmental and social sustainability, announced it’ll close sometime after the spring semester, saying the campus and its operations are just no longer financially viable.
