A former mixed martial arts fighter who pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was sentenced Wednesday to 41 months in prison. Federal prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 44 months.

DC Jail Officials Found in Contempt Over Jan. 6 Defendant Treatment
A federal judge found D.C. corrections officials in contempt of court Wednesday in connection to medical treatment of a Jan. 6 defendant. The judge said he’ll refer the matter to the Justice Department to determine whether the jail is violating the rights of Capitol insurrection suspects.
