A Turn For The Wetter

Well it happened.

Every year, we await the revitalizing switch from a spring to summer weather pattern. And every year, we hold our breath and hope that May is that turning point. Sorry to disappoint, but to use an infamous phrase from Star Wars, these aren't the droids you're looking for.

Seems we've stumbled onto an extended wet spell over the next 5-7 days. I don't see this spoiling the entire beginning of May (like we know it could), but it's certainly wetting down this week, with no less than 4 separate weather systems spreading rain into New England. If that in of itself is not enough to sink your battleship, then compounding it with a wind off the water may be.

It's the whole reason that this week may stink, meteorologically speaking. Water temperatures are only around 47-48 degrees and a chilly wind from the northeast will ensure that our high tempertures make it only a few degrees above that this week.

Tomorrow's rain has a heavy slant to Southern New England, with the heaviest rain favoring Connectictut, Rhode Island and points south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. With one fell swoop, this weather system should be on its merry way by tomorrow afternoon.

Hot on its heels is another for Wednesday afternoon. We're also watching for the possibility of a weak coastal storm to spin up on Thursday just to make sure you don't get your hopes up for sun.

There is some possibility we'll sandwich some in on Wednesday before the rain moves in during the afternoon, but that is mainly for Northern New England. Next chance beyond that is this weekend, where we have some in the background, with wobbly legs.

On thing's for sure. Once we shake the northeast wind, we should recover to the 60s. And next week is looking wonderful, with temperatures pushing 70 or better.

Hang in there.
