Fine Stretch of Weather Ahead

    Weather Forecast: Thursday Preview

Thursday: Partly sunny with passing morning sprinkle in far Southern New England. Afternoon shower, thunder north. Mid and upper 80s. (Published Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016)

Dewpoints dropped slowly but surely this afternoon as a gusty northwest wind ushered in a fresh, new airmass.

Looking for more summer sun? (Wait, you haven't had enough??) The forecast is chocked full of it. A few weak weather systems will pass through in the coming days, occasionally knocking us back to partly or mostly cloudy skies at times, but overall this is another dry, warm setup.

On of those weak systems could garner up enough energy to pop a shower or storm in Northern New England tomorrow. Moisture is limited, so chances are small. I'd peg it at about 20-30%. Meantime, another weak system brushes Connecticut, Southern Rhode Island and the Cape/Islands with a quick sprinkle possible.

While the heat will peak tomorrow, the weekend is far from cool. Highs near 90 Thursday will fall to the mid 80s by the Saturday and Sunday owing to a shift in the wind direction.

Next threat for storms is on Monday as a front crosses. We're hoping for organized storms for a widespread chance of rain, but at this time, there are no promises.
