One down, one to go. The storm that lashed the coast with wind and rain and brought accumulating snow to Western and Northern New England today is pulling away tonight. However, just as the clouds from that storm depart, the next one is immediately on top of us.
I almost hesitate to call the next system a storm. Unlike today's, this one is much weaker and will only sprout a few sprinkles or bands of light rain tomorrow. In fact, it won't even be strong enough to threaten all of New England with wet weather. What it lacks in showers, it will make up for in clouds. Heavy on the gray this weekend...even at night.
Showers scoot into Northern New England by mid/late morning tomorrow, then swiftly move offshore tomorrow night. The tail end of this system will then keep the clouds in Southern New England Sunday with a few more sprinkles. The payoff here is that the temperatures will be on the mild side. Highs should reach the mid/upper 50s south and near 50 north. Not a bad trade for all the clouds.
Halloween is looking much brighter, but also a bit colder. Afternoon temps only make it back to low 50s with a slide to the 40s in the evening. There won't be any moon this year, so it should be dark and spooky for all the goblins, ghosts and wannabe meteorologists out there.
