Summer Surges In

Pop the champagne! It was a long time coming, but Boston and Worcester both recorded their first 80 or better for the first time this season.

The sea breeze will exact its revenge along the coast in the coming days, but it won't stem the tide of warm temperatures completely. Inland communities will still see highs climb into the mid 80s as the sea breeze remains sequestered along the immediate coast.

With yearly rainfall deficits in of 2-3 inches areawide, any news of rain is welcomed. Thankfully, the return of the warm front on Friday may trigger a few downpours and rumbles into Friday morning. Not everyone gets hit, but there will be some spots that get a good drenching.

We're awash with heat and humidity Saturday. Highs again approach 90 with a chance at some storms flaring in the afternoon and evening. Sunday is socked-in with clouds, fog and cooler temps (especially at the beaches), before we push in some warmer weather for Memorial Day.

It's still early in the season, but we have our eyes on the tropics already. A disturbance is currently spinning northeast of the Bahamas, and although it doesn't show signs of any development just yet, it may in the next 4-5 days.

Summer has truly arrived.
