Fun Surprises: Sometimes Support Comes From People & Places You Never Expected

I am running the 2011 Boston Marathon to raise money for the American Liver Foundation's Run for Research, and will post frequently about my training here, in these final weeks leading up to the race.

So many of you have been tremendously supportive of my upcoming Monday Marathon run for the American Liver Foundation's Run for Research.  I am not a natural runner, so the past six months of training have been quite an adventure, and while I'm quite sure I won't be anywhere near the front of the pack, I can't tell you how exhilirating it is to hear support from those who have.  In Friday's report from Tom Langford, the legendary Bill Rodgers - 4 time Boston and 4 time New York Marathon winner (among many others) - assured me the run will be "a piece of cake" - I hope you're right, Bill!  Thanks so much for your support of my weathercasts and my run, and I hope to finish with a smile, even if it takes me until Tuesday. :)

Don't forget!  Everyone who donates to my Run for Research is eligible to win some great prizes, drawn at random, now including Training Shoes from Marathon Sports!

  • Two Falmouth Road Race Bib Numbers - Very hard to come by! (Donated by New Balance)
  • His/Hers pair of New Balance shoes (Donated by New Balance)
  • Head-to-toe package of New Balance gear: apparel, socks, shoes, etc. (Donated by New Balance)
  • One free pair of Training Shoes (Donated by Marathon Sports)
