Hurricane Gonzalo has raced by Newfoundland and will continue to move swiftly east across the Northern Atlantic Ocean, arriving to the United Kingdom Monday and Tuesday.

Thereafter, Gonzalo will spread its moisture east across Europe.

The result will be heavy rain and damaging wind gusts for Western Europe, and heavy snow in the European mountains.

Below is the total expected rain forecast, at left, with as much as 4" to 5" of rain in Scotland...and at right is the snow forecast, with about a foot and a half in the mountains of Norway!

Notice that, even farther south, up to half a foot of snow is possible from Liechtenstein and Austria, southeast through Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria. Weather truly is global, and storms like Gonzalo serve to remind us of this.
