The front that blasted New England with flooding rain and damaging wind on Thursday has pushed well to our east and north.
On Friday, we get a weak area of high-pressure with seasonable temperatures in the 30s south and 20s north.
While most of the snow and ice disappeared in southern New England, we have quite a coating of wet snow and a re-freeze on side roads and driveways across western and northern New England Friday morning. In addition, rivers continue to rise and we have several reports of ice jams from Connecticut north, and Vermont east.
This ice will likely freeze in place if it does not release soon. Because we have even colder air coming in on Friday night.
An additional cold front is going to cross late Friday with a chance of a snow shower or a snow squall in western and northern areas.
Colder wind from the west will push temperatures down to near 0 degrees north and 10s south by Saturday morning.

Saturday should be a rather bright, but brisk day with a high temperature in the 20s south and teens north. Not a lot in the way of wind,
Wind will pick up from the south at night and on Sunday. It’s a warm front that may generate snow showers that could coat the ground in areas late Saturday night and into Sunday.
Southern New England may warm up to 40 degrees or better with a mixture of sun and clouds Sunday afternoon. Thereafter, the forecast is very challenging.
It looks like a polar vortex coming to Lake Superior with incredibly cold air over Minnesota. Weak areas of low pressure will emanate from the south side of the vortex and may evolve into a rather widespread wintry mix in New England later Monday until Wednesday.

If we catch a break, there will be one storm system over Ontario with another one well east of Cape Cod and we get just a light mix.
If they happen to merge, we could be in for a heavy dose of snow in the mountains and an icy wet mess near the coast. The high confidence part of the forecast is another batch of frigid air that arrives Wednesday night through the rest of the week, perhaps equaling the cold we saw this recent Sunday and Monday.
