Boston

Another Wave of Rain Overnight

A cold front will move through New England Tuesday night, bringing scattered rain to the area again.

We do not expect the 1-2 inches of rainfall like what the Boston area had Monday, but up to a quarter inch of rain is likely across northern New England, with up to a quarter inch of rain across southern New England in a few spots.

This rain quickly moves out late Wednesday morning from west to east, though a wintry mix may linger across the north country through afternoon. Snowflakes may mix in across northern Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire through afternoon, too. The wind will be gusty from the west with decreasing clouds by late afternoon. Less cloud cover expected south with highs in the 60s, more clouds north with highs around 50.

Thursday is the pick of the week with mostly sunny skies all across the northeast and highs in the 60s.

Our next wave of rain moves in Friday, and it will be a soggy day with half an inch to an inch of rainfall through Saturday morning. Cooler temperatures are in store for us on Friday due to the rain with 50s and low 60s. This storm system should move more quickly than the one last weekend, so we should dry off Saturday afternoon with highs in the 60s. Another wave of low pressure brings rain to New England Sunday, with highs in the low 60s. The timing is a little uncertain, but the showers may hold off until late afternoon into Monday morning.

Temperatures stay rather steady in the extended outlook and around average for this time of the year. We have at least a slim chance for rain on each day next week with a more zonal jet stream flow and repeated disturbances moving west to east along it, right over us. Stay tuned!
