Boston is inching closer to its snowiest winter on record, and more snow and sleet, followed by rain, are expected on Thursday.

The National Weather Service reports that the city received another 1.6 inches of snow late Tuesday into Wednesday. More snow is expected Thursday, but the weather service is predicting accumulation of an inch or less in Boston.

That brings the amount of snow recorded as Logan International Airport to 105.5 inches for the entire season, which is measured from July 1 until June 30.

The record is 107.6 inches recorded during the 1995-1996 season. Records date to 1872.

Acushnet got 3.5 inches Tuesday, while Worcester got 3.2.
