Boston Schools Remain Closed Thursday After Blizzard

Boston schools are remaining closed for another day after a blizzard dumped about 2 feet of snow in the area.

Mayor Martin Walsh announced Wednesday afternoon that schools will remain closed on Thursday because snow-covered sidewalks students must use remain a safety concern.

He said Boston's roads are safe and drivable. The city's parking ban was lifted at 5 p.m.

Walsh also said Wednesday he received a call from Vice President Joe Biden offering federal help to dig out of the two feet of snow the blizzard dumped on the city.

Walsh thanked residents who remained indoors Wednesday to let the cleanup continue. He said he didn't yet know the cost of the storm.

He again asked residents to help dig out hydrants and assist elderly neighbors to clear paths to their homes.

Boston saw at least 2 feet of snow from this week's blizzard, and forecasters are monitoring two more possible rounds of snow headed for the region.
