Brief Break in Storms to Be Interrupted by Thunder

Strong to severe thunderstorms along a front that moved out of New York Monday were fueled by temperatures in the 90s. There were many reports of lightning and wind gusts past 60 mph as well as large hail.

The storms worked to break the heat and now, we have a much more comfortable day.

Any early fog will go away fast. Tuesday's weather looks beautiful, with plenty of sunshine. It will be much less humid and a high temperature will be in the middle 80s.

Light winds with local onshore breezes are keeping the beach a little cooler. But the same front from Monday turns around and comes back as a warm front Tuesday night.

That means humidity comes back up along with many clouds and more thunderstorms late Tuesday night and Wednesday. The day may feature some slower moving thunderstorms that could result in some flash flooding.

Thanks to all the clouds, its only near 80 degrees, but it’s very sticky.

Another cold front will come through on Thursday, along with another round of strong to severe thunderstorms with possible flash flooding. Temps will be in the 80s with very humid air.

Stronger and bigger high-pressure system will move in from Canada Friday and should spend the weekend in the region. That means the humidity goes away and sunshine comes back.

We may actually have a weekend without any severe thunderstorms!

It’s still a long way out, but we’re optimistic in our First Alert 10-Day Forecast.
