Enjoy the Pleasant Humidity Before the Downpours

What to Know

  • TODAY: Comfortable humidity, great day for the outdoors
  • TOMORROW: Clouds will slowly increase, leading to some overnight showers.
  • LOOKING AHEAD: Numerous rounds of hit and miss downpours around New England.

Beautiful, sunny weather prevails across New England again on Friday, with highs in the 80s inland and near 80 at the coast.

Humidity remains pleasant into Friday night with lows in the 50s and 60s.

Sunshine returns on Saturday, making that the clear pick of the weekend. Clouds will slowly increase from south to north, with an east wind keeping highs mostly in the 70s.

Rain moves in Saturday night and continues into Sunday morning. At times, the rain will fall heavily with a gusty wind accompanying it. On average, most spots will pick up a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain, but some localized totals closer to 1-inch are possible in the downpours.

Wet weather lingers into Sunday afternoon, but it becomes a bit more sporadic, so we’re expecting at least some dry times during the second half of the day. Humidity will really ramp up, with highs in the 70s to near 80.

Next week, a block in the jet stream develops courtesy of high pressure offshore. That will send a feed of moisture up into parts of Northern and Western New England, resulting in numerous rounds of hit and miss downpours and storms.

We’re much more likely to stay dry in Southeastern Massachusetts over the Cape and the Islands, but even there it will be very humid all week with highs in the 80s.
