FIRST ALERT: Dangerous Heat and Humidity Build Across Region

We continue to see the heat and humidity build across New England. Overnight lows the next few nights will be warm in the 70s and 80s and it stays humid, so don’t count on relief from the heat then.

There are a few thunderstorms across upstate New York that may travel to western Massachusetts and Connecticut tonight, otherwise, we may have patchy fog develop.

Saturday and Sunday our highs will be near 100 with heat index temperatures between 100 and 110 thanks to the tropical dewpoints in the 70s. Cape Cod and the islands will be a tad cooler around 90, but still muggy.

An isolated storm is possible across the north country Saturday, but most of us will be partly cloudy. More widespread showers and thunderstorms slowly move in Sunday from the northwest as a cold front nears. The storms arrive across southern New England Sunday evening, and this will help to cool us off next week.

The front slowly dips south on Monday and this will keep our storm chance around through possibly Tuesday. More comfortable air returns to the northeast as we go into midweek. Highs will be in the 80s Monday, to 70s possible Tuesday. No major warm ups in the extended 10-day forecast.
