Temperatures Back Into 70s Monday, Rain Chances Increase

Heavy rain will arrive first thing Monday morning to Vermont and then move south

Morning sun faded behind the clouds that continued to stream in from the west as a disturbance moves in from the Great Lakes. The wind is now from the south gusting up to 25 mph in some spots, and this allowed temperatures to surge into the 60s.

A sprinkle or two is possible over Northern New England this evening while most of us do stay mainly rain free on this Sunday. Monday, is a different story as the system gets closer to the region, rain chances will increase. The heavy rain will arrive first thing the morning to Vermont and then moves south and east arriving into Worcester early afternoon and impacting the evening commute in Southern New England. Some areas could get 1-2 inches which could lead to ponding on the roads, especially north and west of Boston.

Temperatures will be back into the 70s but don’t get used to the warmth, because behind the front on Tuesday, it cools down to the 50s and 60s. Showers will linger along the South Coast Tuesday morning with some partial clearing as the day progresses.

By mid-week, it gets tricky-an area of low pressure may develop off the coast of Nantucket keeping clouds and rain over South-eastern Massachusetts, almost like a Nor’easter, but with high pressure (stable weather) over Canada and trying to slide south, it will be a battle to see which one takes over.

One thing we do know is that the it will be breezy from Wednesday to Friday. Next weekend doesn’t look as bright as this one, which could end our stretch of dry-weekends.

Last time it rained on a weekend was back on September 14.
