Weak high pressure over the ocean east of New England has kept it cool and foggy near the beaches. That will not change much today.
Our Sunday looks pretty much the same as yesterday, the exception in Western New England, where there’s a chance of some powerful thunderstorms during the afternoon. At the beach we may see the fog burn off a little bit better than it did yesterday. High temperature near 60 at the coast, closer to 80 well inland where we should have several hours of sunshine before any thunderstorm threat.
A squall line may form from northern Vermont to western Massachusetts by early afternoon, and then move west to east reaching the coast by 8 p.m. In that squall line we may have some strong to severe thunderstorms. They should only last a few minutes at any one location, but you may want to keep an eye on the sky and our weather radar. storms may pack winds great than 60 mph, with hail also possible. The front pushes offshore tonight with clearing skies, maybe some patchy fog, and cooler with a low temperature in the 40s and 50s early tomorrow.
An upper level low pressure system goes over New England tomorrow with many instability clouds and a few showers west and north. The freezing level in the sky lowers to a few thousand feet and there’s the possibility that our mountain tops get a rare coating of June snow.
But for most of us it’s just a bit breezy with a mix of sun and clouds, mostly dry with a high temperature in the 60s, 50s north.
A warming trend comes back on Tuesday with a cool start in the 40s, but making it up to the 60s to near 70°.
A warm front comes in Wednesday with increasing clouds and a chance of a shower late, high temperature in the 70s. Thursday will be warmer and more humid, with a mix of sun and clouds and a chance of thunderstorms, high temperature near 80°.
