Heavy Rain Arrives Tuesday After Sunshine and Warmth Kick Off Week

Torrential downpours are likely across southern New England

It's perfect beach weather to start off the week with sunshine, warmth and increasing humidity. Unfortunately, beach weather will be hard to come by for the remainder of the week.

The overnight won't be as cool or crisp as the last couple of nights. Humidity levels will remain high and you might need the air conditioner to keep you comfortable.

Get ready for another round of heavy rain Tuesday. Torrential downpours are likely across southern New England. The same system dropped more than 6 inches of rain across parts of Illinois and Missouri early this morning.

Although forecast models aren't showing the rainfall totals very well, we could end up seeing several inches of rain along coastal Connecticut, southern Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts. The worst of the rain will arrive during the afternoon and continue into early Wednesday morning.

The weather will slowly improve on Wednesday. Skies will favor clouds over sun. Temperatures will cool in the 70s. We will stay unseasonably cool in the Thursday as well - showers will return to parts of New England.

The weekend is looking pretty nice. Temperatures will warm into the 80s, which is typical for this time of year. At this point shower chances are low. The seasonable weather sticks around through the following week.
