High Fire Danger as Cooler Air Arrives

After a spectacular stretch of weekend weather, which carried over into Monday, a cold front is crossing New England on Tuesday.

Aside from a few clouds and a couple of spotty showers, that front will cross with little fanfare. It will open the door to cooler conditions, meaning highs will reach the 50s and 60s.

Not to be overlooked is the fact that winds will increase during the afternoon in parts of Western New England, especially in Vermont, Connecticut, and parts of Western Massachusetts.

Combine that wind with increasing sunshine and dry conditions of late and we have the recipe for a high fire danger day in those areas.

Brush fires that pop up will spread quickly, so use extreme caution if you plan on burning, or if you’re discarding things like cigarettes.

Sunshine returns with 50s and 60s on Wednesday, before we warm into the 70s on Thursday.
