Humid and Breezy Ahead of Thunderstorm Threat

A strong high-pressure system near Bermuda, combined with a strong low-pressure system over Lake Michigan, is creating a humid mix of sun and clouds, along with rather windy conditions especially late this afternoon.

Though there may be a spot shower, most of our Sunday afternoon is rain free. But it is very sticky outside with the dew point reading near 70 degrees and the temperature in most spots above 80 degrees. Wind from the southwest is increasing, gusting past 30 mph towards sunset.

A front moving into western New York and Pennsylvania may trigger a shower or thunderstorm near the Canadian border late today or overnight tonight. Temperatures tonight are only going to fall into the 70s.

There may be some more patchy fog forming overnight tonight, otherwise partly cloudy and dry to start our Monday. Dry in the sense that it's not raining, but humidity remains high.

Thunderstorms will be developing in eastern New York arriving in western New England by lunch time. A well organized line of storms from Maine to Connecticut will cross pas from east to west during the afternoon. Storms may cause damage as wind gusts past 55 in the stronger downpours. We also have a flash flood watch up for much of the region as rainfall of 2 inches could happen very quickly.

Ahead of, and behind the storms, temperatures are in the 80s, except cooler along the south facing shore with wind from the south 15 to 25 mph.

Though one front moves offshore on Tuesday, another is approaching from the west so we have the threat for showers and thunderstorms again Tuesday, though not as powerful, but rainfall amounts could be enough to warrant brief localized flooding advisories once again. Temperatures Tuesday will be near 80 degrees or higher, but it is a little bit less humid.

Humidity comes down quite a bit for Wednesday with a mixture of sun and clouds a high temperature near 80 degrees.

Thursday starts off mild and dry, but clouds increase with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm late in the day and overnight.

Highs Thursday will be in the 70s, and then back in the lower 80s for Friday and Saturday, with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

There is a front stalled nearby next weekend, so the chance of a shower is still in the forecast with more seasonable temperatures.
