NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND

Increasing Humidity, Mostly Dry to Start Weekend

Steady as she goes in the weather department.

We have another sunny start this morning, a few high thin clouds in southeastern New England will move out. Temperatures starting off in the 50s and 60s, climbing right up to 80° by lunchtime. That’s when we will see bubbling cumulus clouds with a few spot showers or thunderstorms this afternoon. High temperatures a little cooler than yesterday, mid 80s for most, closer to 80° at the beach, fantastic beach day, and pretty nice in the mountains to just watch out for that afternoon shower.

The weather map features high pressure over us, we are in between a storm developing well southeast to Nantucket and a slow-moving front in the Great Lakes. A combination of these two weather systems will cause an increase in heat and humidity tomorrow. So after a comfortable night for sleeping tonight with a low temperature mostly in the 60s, we will crank up to near 90° tomorrow with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms and western and northern New England.

Low pressure to our north Monday will draw wind in from the southwest resulting in temperatures near 90° but probably fewer showers and storms than Sunday.

The hottest day of the week next week is probably Tuesday, with a high temperature 90 to 95° with sunshine and a spot shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon.

A more significant front arrives Wednesday with a good chance for showers and storms becoming widespread late day and at night. A few spots may hit 90° again, making this another heat wave. We still have to mind of the timing on that front. Cooler and less humid air comes in the second half of the week setting up for perhaps another fine summer weekend.
