Day after day has seen sunshine and dry air.
Though dry air cools quickly at night and warms nicely during the day - producing a 40 degree morning to afternoon temperature swing for some of us today - persistent sunshine on the air and ground warms the atmosphere over several days, and today we'll push this Canadian air about as far as it can go: 78 to 80 degrees.

Though the sunshine and dry weather is fantastic for many of us, particularly following such a cool and dreary week last week, haze has built on the horizon with moderate air quality, the pollen count remains exceptionally high and brush fire danger has built to high levels once again.
The weather pattern starts moving a bit more Friday...after clouds and patchy fog move onto the South Coast overnight Thursday night with an onshore wind flow, then clouds move in Friday morning with a few sprinkles.

By Friday afternoon, an approaching disturbance and cold front from the west will spread showers and rain into Western New England from midday onward, and eastern New England during the afternoon and late day, lasting through the evening. Saturday's air may be a bit cooler by nature, but abundant sun will actually warm us more than Friday, with highs well into the 70s before a strong cold front Saturday evening drives a line of thunderstorms through and delivers high temperatures some 14 degrees cooler Sunday, with a few showers popping up in the North Country throughout the day.

Next week starts on a relatively cool note, then moderates a bit with a chance of midweek showers in Southern New England, and perhaps some Friday night showers across the region toward the end of the 10-day period.
