    People Commuting in Boston During March Nor'easter

    Wednesday's storm is making for a messy commute in Boston.

    Officials with the Massachusetts Bay Transporation Authority (MBTA) said they are preparing for the second nor'easter that is about to hit New England in less than a week.

    Although heavy snow was predicted for some regions and a snow-rain mix for other areas, MBTA officials said Wednesday that they planned on operating on a regular schedule on the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines. The Mattapan Trolley Line would be replaced with shuttle bus service beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday to protect the 70-year-old trolley cars from weather-related damage.

    Ferry service will also operate on a regular weekday schedule.

    MBTA officials were advising customers to plan ahead and allow for addition travel time Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Customers are also urged to use caution on slippery platforms and bus stops.

    As delays and service changes may occur, customers are urged to visit the MBTA's Winter Weather page and check their Twitter page for up-to-date alerts.

    While Keolis Commuter Services crews continue their cleanup effort after last week's historic storm, they are also preparing for the storm by re-filling resources, inspecting critical infrastructure, and examining wooded areas along commuter rail tracks. Keolis officials said approximately 450 team members are assisting in the storm prep effort and will be deployed as needed.

    "Our crews will continue working around the clock finishing clean up efforts while also performing the necessary prep to ensure platforms are clear and our resources are ready for additional snow, rain and freezing conditions," said David Scorey, CEO and General Manager, Keolis.
