New England

Midweek Warm-Up

After a chilly start to our Tuesday, temperatures warmed up nicely under a blanket of sunshine. Highs today reached into the 60s to near 70s into far northwestern New England.

Overnight, we remain dry under mostly clear skies with lows slipping into the 40s north, 50s south, so not nearly as chilly as this morning. The warmth sticks around for Wednesday and Thursday before a cold front sweeps in, ushering in a cool down for Friday and Saturday.

A dome of high pressure that has given us the ample amount of sunshine yesterday and today, will float southeastward — off the coastline of New England, changing our wind direction to out of the southwest tomorrow and Thursday, bringing back some humidity, along with breezy conditions.

Ahead of the cold front from the northwest, we’ll see temperatures Wednesday and Thursday in the upper 70s to near 80 under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday evening, there is a possibility for showers, with a few rumbles of thunder into north-northwestern New England. These are likely around or after dinner time Wednesday, otherwise most of the day (and most of the region) will be dry.

Southern New England remains dry through Thursday before a spot shower is possible as the cold front takes it’s time sliding from northwest to southeast. The cold front finally sweeps and clears the area by Friday, with a slight chance for showers into southern New England into early Saturday morning with some areas of fog to start off the weekend.

For the holiday weekend, there will be chances for rain, but it will not be a washout, so do not cancel any of those outdoor plans just yet. Highs Saturday only reach in the upper 60s, return into the mid 70s by Sunday. Monday remains into the low to mid 70s with a slight chance for showers, otherwise partly cloudy.
