Mix of Sun, Clouds Today, But More Rain on the Way

What to Know

  • Today: Seasonable mix of sun and clouds, high in the 60s.
  • Tonight: Clouds return, rain late, low in the 50s.
  • Tomorrow: Morning rain, afternoon clouds, highs near 60.

The front last night resulted in a few reports of flash flooding, isolated wind and lightning damage. It also cleared out the warm humid air for today.

Now we have a more seasonable day, with a few sunny breaks, much less humid air, high in the 60s to neat 70.

But the front is coming back at us from the south tonight. Cloud fill back in this evening with rain arriving west after midnight. Low in the 50s south, 40s north. Rain is heavy at time for a few hours tomorrow morning, with rainfall amounts 1 to 2 inches possible once again. Normally this is not a big concern for flooding, but this is the third round of heavy rain in four days and the ground is saturated so we may end up with localized flash flooding once again.

A wave of low pressure tracks along the south coast and east of Cape Cod by sunset. With the clouds and rain, and breeze from the north, many of us may not warm out of the 50s.

The good news is high pressure from Canada brings in mostly dry air and seasonable temperatures this weekend. A weak front in Vermont may generate a shower or two Saturday, then we all have slightly cooler air Sunday.

Our next rain maker is with a warm front next Monday and Tuesday, hopefully without more flooding.
