We experienced an early taste of winter Saturday morning.

Worcester tied the record low temperature of 15 degrees set back in 1971. Bridgeport, Connecticut, also tied its record low of 22 degrees, which was also set in 1971). Most of New England dropped into the 10s and 20s. A part of northwest Connecticut decoupled (which means the winds became calm and all the heat of the day radiated back out into space) and temperatures dropped into the single digits for the first time of the season. Temperatures climbed into the 40s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday won’t be as bright as Saturday; we are expecting some clouds to move in during the afternoon. Temperatures will be a bit warmer, though, and highs will reach the low 50s during the afternoon.

Veterans Day will feature cloudy skies and showers. Temperatures will be fairly mild in the low 50s in southern New England, but in northern New England, temperatures will begin dropping.

Rain will transition over to snow during the day. Into southern New England, the front will drop off to the south and temperatures will begin to fall. A transition to snow is possible all the way to the coast during the day on Tuesday. We aren’t expecting any major accumulations.

The storm will pull away Tuesday night at which point the coldest air mass of the season will be moving in. This air mass could feature record low temperatures! It won’t stay cold and temperatures will begin to moderate Thursday night.

Next weekend temperatures will warm into the mid 40s, which is closer to average for this time of year.
