Muggy Air Surges Back This Weekend

Sunshine and low humidity lasts for one more day, before big changes settle into New England.

Saturday is the clear pick of the weekend, with sunshine slowly giving way to increasing clouds across the area. A wind out of the east will pick up, keeping us in the 70s in many spots. Highs will be closer to 80 far inland. Humidity also gradually ticks up, but it’s still pleasant.

Rain showers arrive in far Southern New England this evening, expanding northward overnight tonight. The tropical showers and downpours will produce heavy rain at times. Temperatures hold in the 60s. Winds will gust 30-40 MPH at times along the coast.

Sunday will feature more occasional tropical showers and downpours, especially during the morning. Most spots, on average, see 0.25-0.75” of rain this weekend, but there will be some localized 1-2”amounts in areas hit by the heaviest rain. A few embedded thunderstorms are also possible. It will still be windy, with humidity becoming oppressive.

Much of this upcoming week follows a similar pattern. Days will be mostly cloudy with hit and miss showers and downpours, particularly north and west of Boston. South and east the rain risk will be much lower, but there will be areas of fog due to the muggy air in place. No day will be a total washout.
