New England Prepares for Snowfall

The bitter cold Wednesday night is the perfect weather for snow to stick, as the first snowfall of the season prepares to hit New England.

A winter storm watch was already in effect for many areas Wednesday.

In Leominster, Massachusetts, the heavy equipment is ready to go at Quality Towing and Recovery, which plows commercially for supermarkets, apartment complexes and industrial buildings.

"All the companies are getting ready. The snow stakes are in the ground, and they're making sure everything is running — the sanders and trucks," said Nick Pirro III of Quality Towing and Recovery.

Snow also means spin-outs and accidents.

The company has 12 tow trucks ready. It tows for the major highways and three state police barracks.

They're expecting it to be "very busy the next couple days."

Some parking bans are also in effect.

Police departments around the state were reminding residents of the parking restrictions on social media.

Keolis, the company that operates the commuter rail, says they are also pre-positioning teams with salt, sand and snow and checking equipment, before the commute Friday morning.
