Morning flurries on Valentine’s Day will give way to generally partly cloudy skies across New England, with highs in the 30s to near 40. It will feel a little cooler than that, however, with a blustery west wind that at times will gust to 30 mph.

The wind diminishes Thursday night, and skies stay mostly clear for evening plans. Temperatures will fall back into the 20s and 30s by morning in Southern New England, with teens farther north.

Clouds arrive after midnight and continue to thicken by morning as our next disturbance approaches. Periods of rain will fall during the day Friday across most of New England, with snow in far Northern New England.

Winds will occasionally gust 45 to 55 mph, but since the winds are out of the south, it will also be mild. Many reach highs in the 40s and 50s.

Where it does snow, expect some minor accumulations. A dusting of one inch will fall before the transition to rain in much of Vermont, with more like 1-to-3-inches in parts of the Northeast Kingdom and Northern New Hampshire, as well as Western Maine.

In far northern Maine, where it stays mostly snow without a change to rain, 3-to-6 inches will fall.

The wind relaxes this weekend, with a mix of sun and clouds both weekend days. Highs will be in the 20s and 30s.

A storm, which likely stays mostly to our south Sunday into Monday, may come just close enough to brush us with some snow showers during that time. If the storm goes farther south, we wouldn’t even see anything from it.

Yet another storm arrives for the middle of next week, likely with a mix of rain and snow.
