    NEWSLETTERS

Wednesday night: Scattered showers, otherwise mostly cloudy with lows into the 50s. Thursday: Morning clouds to PM sun, but a northeasterly wind off the water will keep temperatures cool. Highs into the upper 50s to low 60s.

Tuesday, we were running at least 10-15 degrees warmer than average in terms of high temperatures for this time of the year. Wednesday, with the mix of sun and clouds and the shifting wind direction, temperatures ranged from 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Thursday.

We were finally closer to seasonable norms, but we will continue to slide into cooler territory through the rest of this work week. The increasing clouds that have taken over our skies are associated with a system to our west, which is bringing some showers across Pennsylvania and New York. These showers are expected into western New England into this evening, but these showers will likely fall apart as they slide eastward considering high pressure in southern Canada continues to usher in drier, cooler air into our area — not the best environment to sustain these showers.

The farther north and east you are in New England, the more likely you'll see dry conditions through Friday. Overnight Wednesday night, showers linger into southern New England, while northern New England will likely see a clearing of the skies overnight as the cool Canadian air continues to sink southward. Overnight lows will range from lower 30s in northern Maine and New Hampshire, low to mid 50s south.

Thursday and Friday, the weather pattern will be quiet as the dome of high pressure will be over northern New England, shifting the wind from the northeast to 10-15mph, making for an onshore wind along the coast. High temperatures Thursday will be near 60, with mostly locations in northern New England remaining in the 50s under mostly sunny skies by the afternoon after we start off with more clouds in southern New England. Friday brings a sun-filled day to end out the work week with highs into the 60s for most.

For the weekend, the high-pressure that is responsible for giving us the quiet, fall-like weather to round out the work week will be sliding off the coastline, a little bit of moisture associated with a warm front to our southwest will bring us a cloudy start to the weekend, with the potential for a few showers in southern New England. This warm front will give a boost of warmth for the weekend with highs returning back into the 70s both days, but Sunday, a few locations could easily stretch to near 80. Sunday, we should see slightly more sunshine compared to Saturday, except along the Canadian border, where the warm front may generate a few more clouds and a few showers. The next round of showers will be late Sunday into early Monday as another front sweeps in with some showers and the return to cooler weather to start off the next work week.
