Some Snow in Store; Winter Weather Advisory for Part of Mass.

Some of us will begin the week with a little snow. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will feature ocean effect snow from Cape Ann through Plymouth County and parts of the Cape.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Plymouth and eastern Norfolk counties. Ocean effect, like lake effect snow, is very difficult to forecast. The areas, which see the most persistent bands could receive 3-6” of snow (locally higher totals). If you live outside the most persistent bands an inch or two is possible. Travel will be difficult in the most intense bands. The event will start tonight and continue into Monday night.

Tuesday, a clipper system will pass through the area. At first, we thought that clipper would rapidly intensify bringing 6”+ of snow to the area. Now it appears, a widespread 3-6” of snow is possible. The timing looks like Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Once the clipper moves out, we will see another thaw across the area. Temperatures will reach the upper 30s and low 40s Friday and Saturday. Sunday, we could reach 50s. We will likely stay above freezing through Tuesday the following week. What snow we receive Monday and Tuesday will be gone by next weekend.
