Boston

Sunny Thursday Ahead of Rainy End to Week

We are in the middle of a brief break in the rain. April rainfall is well above normal for Worcester (over 6 inches) and Boston (almost 5 inches) and we have more heavy rain in the forecast by Friday.

Tonight, the wind relaxes a bit and with only a few clouds, our lows drop to the 40s and 30s across northern New England. It will be a rather chilly start to Thursday, but we will rebound nicely by the afternoon.

High pressure settles in tonight into tomorrow, and this will help to relax our gusty west winds. With the lack of wind on Thursday, seabreezes will develop in the afternoon which will keep temperatures on the coast cooler than inland.

A potent low pressure system from the southern U.S. combines with a cold front from the northern Plains and will bring lots of moisture in for Friday through Saturday. Scattered rain develops Friday from west to east in New England and will increase in coverage and in intensity by the afternoon.

Heaviest rainfall will be Friday night into Saturday morning for most of New England. A wintry mix and a few showers linger across the north county and Maine through Saturday afternoon.

The rest of New England will enjoy seasonable temperatures in the 50s and 60s, with a gusty wind and a clearing sky. Sunday begins dry with increasing clouds, highs in the low 60s, and scattered showers moving in by evening.

Waves of rain continue to stick around the 10-day forecast. Seemingly, every other day we can plan on some showers. Temperatures remain consistently around 60 degrees through the end of next week.
